Frame-Off Rust Removal & Sandblasting Services
Frame-off rust removal and sandblasting — the only way to truly remove rust, not just cover it up.
Coating over existing rust doesn’t fix the problem — it slows it down while the rust keeps working underneath the surface.
Why Frame-Off Instead of Spot Treatment
Spot treatments and surface coatings can only address what’s visible. Frame-off removal gives us full access to every affected surface, so what we treat actually stays fixed.
Our Process
Full Rust Assessment
We inspect the frame, floor pans, rockers, and wheel wells to map out the full extent of the damage.
Disassembly
The body is separated from the frame to expose every affected surface, including areas normally hidden.
Sandblasting
All rusted surfaces are blasted down to clean, bare metal.
Post-Blast Treatment
Surfaces are treated immediately to prevent flash rust and prepared for protective coating.
Protective Coating
Freshly blasted metal is coated using the same rust-prevention approach as our standard service.
Reassembly
The vehicle is carefully rebuilt with attention to the repaired areas.
Final Inspection
A complete walkaround and undercarriage check before the vehicle is returned.
Who This Is For
- Vehicles with visible rust on the frame, rockers, floor pans, or wheel wells
- Classic cars and restoration projects
- Trucks and work vehicles exposed to years of road salt
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my vehicle too rusted to fix?
In most cases, no. Frame-off rust removal is specifically designed for vehicles that already have significant rust damage — the kind of damage that other shops would tell you is beyond repair. As long as the frame’s core structure is still intact, we can typically strip the rust, treat the surfaces, and put the vehicle back on the road. If the frame itself has holes or missing sections, we also offer frame repair as a separate service. Bring it in for an inspection and we’ll give you a straight, honest answer.
Will a rust-removed vehicle pass Massachusetts state inspection?
Yes, provided the vehicle didn’t have structural frame damage that also needed repair. Massachusetts state inspection (540 CMR 4.00) rejects vehicles with structural rust in the frame or undercarriage. Our sandblasting process removes rust down to bare metal and treats the surfaces to prevent it from returning — restoring the vehicle’s structural condition. If your vehicle also has holes or perforation in the frame itself, that’s addressed through our Frame Repair service.
How long does frame-off rust removal take?
Timelines depend on the extent of the damage and how much disassembly the vehicle requires. A typical frame-off rust removal takes anywhere from several days to a couple of weeks. We give you a realistic estimate after the initial inspection so you can plan around it — no surprise timelines.
Do you work on classic cars and restoration projects?
Yes — classic car and restoration work is one of the most common reasons vehicles come to us for frame-off rust removal. Preserving structural integrity and vehicle value on a restoration project requires that rust be fully removed rather than masked or coated over. We approach classic vehicles with the same thoroughness we’d give any structural repair, and we can coordinate with your body shop or restoration team if you’re working across multiple specialists.
Will the rust come back after this process?
Not in the areas we’ve treated, provided the vehicle receives normal rust prevention going forward. After sandblasting removes existing rust down to bare metal, we apply protective coating to prevent it from starting again. We’ll walk you through a maintenance schedule — usually a WaxOyl application once a year — that keeps the vehicle protected long-term. Neglecting that maintenance is what causes rust to eventually return.
