Frequently Asked Questions
Bay State Rust Prevention & Undercoating FAQs
What's the difference between rust prevention, rust removal, and frame repair?
Rust prevention (our WaxOyl undercoating service) is for vehicles that are rust-free or in early stages — it stops rust before it starts. Rust removal is for vehicles that already have rust damage on the surface, rockers, or floor pans — it removes existing rust down to bare metal through sandblasting. Frame repair is for vehicles where rust has actually eaten through the frame itself, creating holes or perforation — we cut out the damaged section and weld in a new one. Most vehicles we see need just one of the three; a smaller number need a combination.
How do I know which service my vehicle needs?
The simplest way is to bring your vehicle in for a free inspection, or send us photos of any rust you’re seeing. As a rough guide: if your vehicle is new or nearly rust-free, prevention is the right call. If you can see rust or scaling on visible undercarriage surfaces but the frame is intact, rust removal is the answer. If you can see actual holes in the frame — or your vehicle has already failed inspection for structural rust — you’re looking at frame repair. When in doubt, call (508) 859-9714.
Are you related to Super Shine Solutions?
